Our Sunday evening gatherings provide us opportunities to enjoy time together, pray for one another, speak words of encouragement, share prayer requests, and continue walking together as disciples of Jesus in various contexts, normally in a less formal way than on Sunday mornings. We often gather on Sunday nights for corporate prayer, which is a time that includes hearing testimonies from those who have been recommended for membership and allowing open opportunities for anyone to share prayer requests or words of encouragement or exhortation. It is one of the best ways to get to know the members of CCC. We also devote several Sunday nights per year to holding worship services in which we allow our pastoral interns opportunities to preach to the gathered congregation, not only for the building up of the church, but also for the sake of giving those we are training opportunities to practice their skills in preparation for future ministry. At least four times a year, we will hold members' meetings on Sunday nights, which are gatherings for the purpose of hearing updates on church membership, financial reports, and recommendations for the congregation to vote on. We also schedule several church picnics per year on Sunday evenings to enjoy a meal together and to facilitate a time for building relationships among our members.
